If you're like most people, you probably don't give much thought to the drywall in your home unless there's something wrong with it. And if there's something wrong with your drywall, it can be pretty noticeable. Luckily, there are ways to hide or conceal flaws in your drywall.

Covering Minor Drywall Flaws

However, drywall isn't perfect. It can be prone to cracks, holes, and other flaws. If these flaws are left untreated, they can eventually lead to damage to the underlying structure of the wall. Fortunately, there are a few ways to hide or fix these flaws. One way is to paint over them. This can be a good option if the flaws are small and don't affect the structural integrity of the wall.

If you can't hide the flaws with paint, you might need to patch your drywall.

Repairing a Drywall Hole or Dent

There are several types of drywall repair. The most common is repairing a hole or a dent. To do this, you'll need some drywall compound, a putty knife, and some sandpaper. First, cut a piece of drywall that's slightly larger than the hole or dent. Then, apply some drywall compound to the back of the patch and fix it in place over the hole or dent. Smooth out the compound with the putty knife, and then sand it smooth.

Fixing Cracked Drywall

Another common type of drywall repair is repairing a crack. To do this, you'll need some drywall tape and some drywall compound. First, cut a piece of drywall tape that's slightly larger than the crack. Then, apply some drywall compound to the crack and stick the tape in place. Smooth out the compound with the putty knife, and then sand it smooth.

Patching Damaged Drywall

If you have a large hole or dent, or if you're repairing a wall that's been damaged by water or fire, you might need to use a patch. A patch is a piece of drywall that's been cut to fit the shape of the hole or dent. To install a patch, first cut the patch to size and then apply some drywall compound to the back of the patch. Stick the patch in place over the hole or dent, and then smooth out the compound with the putty knife.

Sanding can Help Hide Flaws

No matter what type of repair you're doing, always be sure to sand it smooth when you're finished. Sanding will help to hide any flaws and give your wall a smooth finish. There are quite a few common sanding errors but we're here to help you avoid those.
